Foodbank Charity

09/10/2017

WHERE:
Foodbank Charity, Various locations across Singapore

TOPIC:
Helping the food insecure across Singapore

PROBLEM:
Singapore is a rich, diverse and affluent city state. Because of this nature, it is often forgotten that there are members of the Singaporean community who do not have enough money to feed themselves or their family.

GOAL:
The aim is for students at Dulwich College (Singapore) to work the the FoodBank charity to deliver food to these families on a monthly basis.

SOLUTION:
Throughout the year, there is a Foodbank ECA which runs for students across Senior School. They spend time in this ECA thinking about how to raise funds for Foodbank and then fulfilling these ideas. They are often seen with fundraising tables at events such as the Christmas Fair and Founder’s Day. They then use these funds to buy food bundles, package them up and then deliver them to those in need. Foodbank helps to source the food bundles and to determine those in the community who are in need of food support.

BENEFIT:
Since the beginning, nearly 100 students at Dulwich College (Singapore) have delivered 970 food bundles to the needy in Singapore and so in the next food delivery, we will be giving our 1000th food bundle.
